Do you remember where you were when he died? On the night he was shot I was at a fight party in College Park, Georgia, and then I remember being in a parking lot of an apartment complex also in the SWATS (SW Atlanta), we were sitting in a car, listening to the radio when the news hit the airwaves that the great rapper had passed after being in Las Vegas 17 years ago. It was also Friday, the 13th

My Illustration and Type Design Icons
Long before I even realized they were my favorites, I was drawn to them in ways Im only just realizing. Whether it was a book cover I admired (and often ended up purchasing) to illustrations I was drawn to, I'm realizing I was drawn to a particular style. In the realm of illustration, Shepard Fairey is my absolute favorite, followed by Banksey, the British activist street artist, and when it comes to my second love, Typography, I am pparticularly drawn to the style of Italian American Louise Fili and a young woman who worked with her by the name of Jessica Hische.
I consider myself to be a true aficionado of the craft of design. Book covers, graffiti art, vintage posters and fruit, vegetable, and wine labels are forms of design/art that I'm especially drawn to. Since I was let go from my full-time job, one of the ways I kept my design skills up was to create these Boxes of Inspiration. The inspiration behind the boxes came from Jessica Hische's The Daily Drop Cap, a typography project she started a few years ago that literally blew her up. My rationale behind the Boxes of Inspiration was this—I was so sick of hearing the phrase "Think outside the box," which I feel has been usurped and it's value desensitized. My project was all about finding the inspiration within the box, and everyday—well, not everyday—but on a consistent enough basis, I eventually created 100 boxes of inspiration.
Being unemployed/self-employed/under-employed has been a blessing in the sense that I have a better understanding of which direction I should take my design, and I have thought about it a good deal enough to finally know how to go about getting there.

Because THAT ONE Wants to Strike, They Suddenly Change Their Minds

"Does anyone seriously think that if it was a Republican president asking that they would not be in favor?" Democratic strategist Maria Cardona says "Now that it's Obama calling for intervention...they're looking for every reason to oppose him."
Now the reason behind opposing POTUS is he waited too long, and he's leading from behind. These Republicans are really something. If anyone ever tells you that we no longer have a race problem in this country, you can point out the Republicans in the House and Senate to quickly debunk that statement, unfortunately. Have a POTUS of color is very telling of how far behind we still are. At the very least, you can say there's some hope in the future generations. Article link is below...

Last night's MNF Game: Redskins -v- Eagles
So we lost the first game of the season 33-27 last night, and you have to give it up to the Eagles who came in our house and straight took over in the first half especially. We looked bewildered, and visibly shaken... we didn't get a hold of our bearings until the second half when we started playing with more urgency. The fellas will need to use this loss as motivation, and btw watch that SanFran Greenbay game (that felt like a playoff game) because we will need to bring everything we have, I mean our A+++++++ game to beat Aaron Rodgers and GB. GB, SanFran, and Seattle all have the hallmarks to mak it all the way to the NFC conference final, they are a very good team. I have no doubt if we can get it together, we can rise to the occasion!
The first week was pretty exciting... a lot of the teams that did poorly last season came out with a vengeance this year.... The Eagles, Cowboys, Lions, Jets etc. should make for an exciting season to come, and anything is possible!

The Zimmerman Household
The Zimmerman household may apparently be in some kind of hostage situation. I'm not gloating because he will have to answer to God for his actions, but I really didn't think his karma would be coming back to haunt him so quickly... I thought it would be more OJ-esque in terms of timing i.e. years later.

The Road to Tehran Blazes Through Damascus (Calling Off America's Bombs article by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs)
Calling off America's Bombs by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs explains the Syrian Conflict in two phases. Phase one was from January 2011 to April 2012—this is when Syrians protested during the Arab Spring. In April 2012, a coalition of foreign secretaries—including then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton—met and formed a coalition in Istanbul to discuss and to put in motion an ambitious plan to arm the Syrian opposition with the hopes of deposing Bashar al Assad.
The US has been involved in the Syrian civil war for almost a year and a half and it has now escalated to out of control proportions, which is why we are just now starting to hear about this—most likely to justify our involvement. On top of everything, our involvement, backing the insurgency/freedom fighters/rebels (whatever you'd like to call them) has nothing to do with Syria at all. We are engaged in a proxy war (on Israel's behalf) and the end game is Iran. Sachs writes that the Obama Administration has adopted the neoconservative philosophy of regime change in the Middle East, and I tend to agree. After all, the rhetoric convincing us to support this bloody endeavor sounds a lot like what happened in Iraq.
Anyway, you can read the article, do some research, and decide for yourself. I've included the first paragraph as well as the link to the website.

Covert United States Foreign Regime Change Actions
Very interesting wiki entry about the foreign regime change actions which the US Government has been involved in since the beginning of the twentieth century. It's broken down into three different sections, using the cold war as the basis. Some of this information is already well known, but a lot of it was a surprise, and there are some countries where there was more than one operation.

Something is Rotten in the State of Denmark: How Did Syria Get the WMD's in the First Place?
I would bet my last dollar *Something is Rotten in the State of Denmark* don't mind me, I've been quoting Shakespeare all morning...
There's a lot going on behind the scenes we're not hearing about concerning everything going on in Syria I'm sure. I'm busy researching and getting to the bottom of what's happening, but I've heard SO MANY different takes on who's responsible for the chemical attack on civilians—was it Bashar Al Assad's brother? Was it Bashar himself, was it the Syrian Rebel Army? All there scenarios could be true, but the one question no one is asking is HOW the Syrians acquired the chemicals in the first place. So far, the most prominent story is that the weapons were moved to Iraq before the US invasion.
That is bullshit by the way, and an insult to our intelligence to try and run this wool over our eyes again—like we could ever forget the first time, but I digress... if that route is insisted on, then you need to ask who gave the weapons to Saddam in the first place... meaning you would have to follow the money trail during the Reagan era... something I think I need to research and see if there are any connections.
In the meantime, below is an article I found on the British news source The Independent... It is rather fascinating and suspect at the same damn time... See for yourself... the article is copied and pasted below—link is also provided...
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/revealed-uk-government-let-british-company-export-nerve-gas-chemicals-to-syria-8793642.html
The Government was accused of “breathtaking laxity” in its arms controls last night after it emerged that officials authorised the export to Syria of two chemicals capable of being used to make a nerve agent such as sarin a year ago.
The Business Secretary, Vince Cable, will today be asked by MPs to explain why a British company was granted export licences for the dual-use substances for six months in 2012 while Syria’s civil war was raging and concern was rife that the regime could use chemical weapons on its own people. The disclosure of the licences for potassium fluoride and sodium fluoride, which can both be used as precursor chemicals in the manufacture of nerve gas, came as the US Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States had evidence that sarin gas was used in last month’s atrocity in Damascus.
Mr Kerry announced that traces of the nerve agent, found in hair and blood samples taken from victims of the attack in the Syrian capital which claimed more than 1,400 lives, were part of a case being built by the Obama administration for military intervention as it launched a full-scale political offensive on Sunday to persuade a sceptical Congress to approve a military strike against Syria.
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills insisted that although the licences were granted to an unnamed UK chemical company in January 2012, the substances were not sent to Syria before the permits were eventually revoked last July in response to tightened European Union sanctions.
In a previously unpublicised letter to MPs last year, Mr Cable acknowledged that his officials had authorised the export of an unspecified quantity of the chemicals in the knowledge that they were listed on an international schedule of chemical weapon precursors.
Downing Street insisted today that Britain’s system for approving arms exports to Syria is working even though licences for two chemicals capable of being used in making nerve gas were approved by the Government and blocked only by EU sanctions.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “You see the system working, with materials not exported. The facts are that the licences were revoked and the exports did not take place. The Prime Minister’s view is that that demonstrates that the system is working. There is a sanctions regime, which is a very active part.”
Critics of the Business Secretary, whose department said it had accepted assurances from the exporting company that the chemicals would be used in the manufacture of metal window frames and shower enclosures, said it appeared the substances had only stayed out of Syria by chance.
The shadow Business Secretary Chuka Umunna told The Independent: “It will be a relief that the chemicals concerned were never actually delivered. But, in light of the fact the Assad regime had already been violently oppressing internal dissent for many months by the beginning of 2012 and the intelligence now indicates use of chemical weapons on multiple occasions, a full explanation is needed as to why the export of these chemicals was approved in the first place.”
The Labour MP Thomas Docherty, a member of the Commons Arms Export Controls Committee, will today table parliamentary questions demanding to know why the licences were granted and to whom.
He said: “This would seem to be a case of breath-taking laxity – the Government has had a very lucky escape indeed that these chemicals were not sent to Syria.
“What was Mr Cable’s department doing authorising the sale of chemicals which by their own admission had a dual use as precursors for chemical weapons at a time when the Syria’s war was long under way?”
The licences for the two chemicals were granted on 17 and 18 January last year for “use in industrial processes” after being assessed by Department for Business officials to judge if “there was a clear risk that they might be used for internal repression or be diverted for such an end”, according to the letter sent by Mr Cable to the arms controls committee.
Mr Cable said: “The licences were granted because at the time there were no grounds for refusal.”
Although the export deal, first reported by The Sunday Mail in Scotland, was outlawed by the EU on 17 June last year in a package of sanctions against the regime of Bashar al-Assad, the licences were not revoked until 30 July. Chemical weapons experts said that although the two substances have a variety of uses such as the fluoridation of drinking water, sodium and potassium fluoride are also key to producing the chemical effect which makes a nerve agent such as sarin so toxic.
Western intelligence has long suspected the Syrian regime of using front companies to divert dual-use materials imported for industrial purposes into its weapons programmes. It is believed that chemical weapons including sarin have been used in the Syrian conflict on 14 occasions since 2012.
Mr Cable’s department last night insisted it was satisfied that the export licence was correctly granted. A spokesman said: “The UK Government operates one of the most rigorous arms export control regimes in the world.
“The exporter and recipient company demonstrated that the chemicals were for a legitimate civilian end-use – which was for metal finishing of aluminium profiles used in making aluminium showers and aluminium window frames.”

Syria Crisis Questions Answered article (The Guardian)
Leave it to the British to thoroughly explain everything... When it comes to journalism, I think they are well ahead of us here in the United States... I found this article called Syria Crisis Questions Answered—it is a complete guide to understanding what's happening in Syria given the Council on Foreign Relation's hearing with Secretary Kerry
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/sep/02/syria-crisis-questions-answered

Political Posturing Regarding Syria
In all the political posturing we've already started seeing with congressional leaders meeting with POTUS to decide what's to be done with Bashar Al Assad and Syria on the whole, what sickens me most is hearing these politicians speaks of the horrors of using chemical weapons on hundreds of Syrian children when these same politicians will not stand up to the NRA to help stop the killing of our children while they go to school here in this country. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I am unmoved by their political gesture to save the children—The last thing I want is another Rwanda... I wish none of the civilians have to even deal with this, but realistically they are, and what's worse, these poor people are waiting for the world to do something to help them get out of this humanitarian emergency. It's a good thing they don't have to witness some of the rhetoric or the acting! For real, I'd be pissed if it was me hanging by a thread having to see people acting like they give a shit when they don't, and to hear the bullshit that comes out of their mouths.
I already these congressional leaders who are considering running for higher offices are carefully considering their decisions based on what people will bring up in the future—was it the right or wrong thing to do, and certainly NOT for the children of Syria.
What's been going on in Syria has been going on for three years already, and this isn't even the first time Assad has used chemical weapons against his people (his father did the same thing in the same villages years before him but that's another blog entry...) so why is it so important politically now? Besides the grave humanitarian conflict, of course. So why the urgency all of a sudden? Is it because our president drew a red line which has been crossed so now we need to act so we're not thought of as pussies by the likes of North Korea, Iran, and all the other countries our government loves to hate? Is it because we want to protect Israel from being struck by Iran, Syria or anyone else?
Do you find it coincidental the Israelis and the United States tested a new air-defense system over the Mediterranean today? Flexin' with bad timing
