Political Posturing Regarding Syria

In all the political posturing we've already started seeing with congressional leaders meeting with POTUS to decide what's to be done with Bashar Al Assad and Syria on the whole, what sickens me most is hearing these politicians speaks of the horrors of using chemical weapons on hundreds of Syrian children when these same politicians will not stand up to the NRA to help stop the killing of our children while they go to school here in this country. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I am unmoved by their political gesture to save the children—The last thing I want is another Rwanda... I wish none of the civilians have to even deal with this, but realistically they are, and what's worse, these poor people are waiting for the world to do something to help them get out of this humanitarian emergency. It's a good thing they don't have to witness some of the rhetoric or the acting! For real, I'd be pissed if it was me hanging by a thread having to see people acting like they give a shit when they don't, and to hear the bullshit that comes out of their mouths.

I already these congressional leaders who are considering running for higher offices are carefully considering their decisions based on what people will bring up in the future—was it the right or wrong thing to do, and certainly NOT for the children of Syria.

What's been going on in Syria has been going on for three years already, and this isn't even the first time Assad has used chemical weapons against his people (his father did the same thing in the same villages years before him but that's another blog entry...) so why is it so important politically now? Besides the grave humanitarian conflict, of course. So why the urgency all of a sudden? Is it because our president drew a red line which has been crossed so now we need to act so we're not thought of as pussies by the likes of North Korea, Iran, and all the other countries our government loves to hate? Is it because we want to protect Israel from being struck by Iran, Syria or anyone else?

Do you find it coincidental the Israelis and the United States tested a new air-defense system over the Mediterranean today? Flexin' with bad timing

Stay tuned for more updates. . .
